Had a blessed staff devotion this morning. The staff team did much this morning. One of the things was to spend time in the Word of God. And how wonderful it is to listen to God speak to us through Scripture. Just like to record down the ‘take aways’ from this morning’s devotion of Philippians 1:1-11
1. Remember people.
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Phil 1:3-5 (ESV)
To remember the people who co-labour with me. In prayer-with joy. That they may grow in love and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To have all discernment. To be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. To be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ. To the glory and praise of God.
2. Jesus is LORD.
Paul servant of Jesus Christ. (Greek:doulos) …totally ‘possessed’ by Jesus Christ-mentioned seven times (Phil 1 vv.1, 2, 6, 8, 10 & 11.) There was no doubt in terms of the identity of Jesus. Jesus is LORD. Jesus is KING. Who is Jesus? He is no less than the LORD Jesus Christ. He is not to be compartmentalised, domesticated… This identity is revealed only by enlightenment.
“In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Cor 4:4
